• The subject was officially established on November 20, 1966 under the name of Department of Metalology – Heat treatment.
• In 1986, the subject was merged with the Department of Casting Engineering to become Faculty of Casting – Heat treatment.
• In 1996, the subject separated from the Faculty of Casting – Heat treatment and became the subject of Materials Science and Heat treatment of the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Technology.
• In 2004, the subject changed its name to the subject of Materials Science, Heat Treatment and Surface, under the Institute of Materials Science and Engineering.

Staff:

• Currently, the Department’s staff consists of 11 staff, of which 10 are directly involved in teaching and 01 staff is working as a graduate student abroad. Among the staff currently working in the subject are 08 PhDs, 02 MSc, 01 PhD.
